Well, I am officially home for a while and I am praising Jesus for that!! I had a wonderful (and exhausting) weekend away with the ladies from North Wake Church up in Blowing Rock, NC. God is always so faithful to move in amazing ways and stir hearts like only He can do!! John and Brighton had their first "Guys Weekend" and loved every second of it :)
Without going into lengthy detail... I came across a perfect summary of my heart today before His Throne. His Words are always far better than mine (which is a very good thing for all of us!!)
Ps 131 1O LORD, my heart is not lifted up;
my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things
too great and too marvelous for me.
2But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 O Israel, hope in the LORD
from this time forth and forevermore.
I am basking in the first part of verse 1 at the moment but my prayer (and what I asked my SG ladies to pray) is that I will faithfully choose to journey into the latter part of 1 and all the way through verse 3 within my heart and mind EVERY DAY!! I am sure that being away from "home" for 3+ weeks and then gone the following weekend does not help in the stillness of what my day may look like activity-wise but that does not mean that these truths can not apply to my thoughts and my soul in the midst of it all!!
************************************
On a lighter note: Again ever so thankful for my adorable husband and his gracious heart to serve me and love me even when I make no sense at all :) Whether in ramblings, laughter or tears.... John is soo good to me and I am truly blessed!!
I returned home to a clean house, a well rested and fed child and my very handsome husband.... that is an INCREDIBLE way to be greeted :)
Even being gone for 2 days I feel like our baby (which he is not and I know that) has grown up sooo much. Brighton is talking and learning so rapidly... far more than this mommy can keep up with. I was greeted by him yesterday... he had learned several new words over the weekend, cut another tooth and sharpened several of his skills.
This morning was one of those mornings that I wish someone was home to take a picture of me and the look of astonishment (for lack of a better term) on my face. As I was sitting on the bed here in the guest room, Bright was watching Super Why on the Mac.... as the little pig finished up singing the alphabet all the letters popped up on the screen inside a tree. There was a pause in the voice on the screen... and MUCH to my surprise... Bright leaned forward.... pointed to the "S" said "S" and then went "sssssssss." He proceeded to say all of the letters and point to them as the pig asked where they were (it was to spell a word.) I about fell off the bed............. this kid is learning ALL the time and on his own!!
And as several of you know, Bright has been a VERY picky eater over the past couple months (2 bouts with the stomach flu and 3 weeks away from home did not help the situation either!!) Honestly, his diet consisted of oat squares cereal, corn puffs and cheese crackers (all whole grain and could account for a little veggie and dairy I guess) for several weeks. I started him on vegetable juice last week as he had even abandoned broccoli recently.... and pretty much ALL fruits. Don't even ask how I ended up with a child that likes veggies more than fruits... its abnormal, I know :) On his attempted road to independence... we have decided officially that Bright must take one bite at dinner and if he doesnt like what is made... then he goes without till morning. Daddy and I discussed that we were going to go hardcore this week.... and start offering the things he needs to get the appropriate amount of vitamins and nutrients... otherwise we were headed for vitamins!!
Today, Day 1.... SUCCESS!! In my doubtful head (which I repented of later) I cut open an avocado and handed Bright a piece.... HE STINKING ATE IT (note: it used to be his favorite food ever when he was a baby!!) Then he was watching me wash and cut the strawberries at the stink... so I set a few on his plate and went to put one in his mouth... he about threw up from gagging so hard at the thought and sight of it. So I set it back down.... next thing I knew... all 4 pieces were gone and he was saying "please" and signing more (Note again that Macey was on the porch so I did not get tagged teamed!)
So all in all... I am learning... 1) that I have not ruined my child for life and 2) theres always hope in Christ even when it comes to a 21 month olds eating habits!!!
Hope you enjoyed our ramblings and update on us.....
