The best buck(s) Ive ever spent....

Want to hear something utterly intimidating:

Brighton Wade strapped into one place within confined conditions for 10 hours straight!!

If you had asked me prior to Sunday what scared the pants off of me... it was the thought of a 20 month old boy in a carseat for 10 hours straight during the day (thats right: no chance of nighttime sleep in these hours!!) How humbling it was to recognize that our Almighty Father can even show His abundant grace and mercies in a road trip.. what a Mighty God we serve!!

Do you want to know the simple things that got us through? Check this out...

A childsize "Cars" suitcase ($4 on sale at ACMoore)... A Beginners Picture Bible.... a toddler microphone... a head strap light... a naked babydoll... the $1 pack of snakes from Target's dollar section.... and not pictured (because I cant find it this morning) was a bouncy ball that we purchased at a rest stop in West Virginia and Bright's sea turtle cap from S FL!! How simple, right? He only slept 45 mins the entire ride... and only wanted to watch 20 mins worth of a video. That leaves 8 hrs and 55 mins of time that is unaccounted for :)

He LOVED seeing the mountains for the first time... the rivers... the clouds that seemed so close... the choo choos and buses... the moo moos and horses.... driving through tunnels while shouting "wheeeeee" and all kinds of new buildings. How thankful I am that Bright is learning to enjoy all the things that John and I used to savor prior to having children. And if you know us well, there's nothing more exciting then exploring a new route and new places... we are good ol' fashioned road trippers. The funny thing is that I really thought it was something that we "sacrificed" when we entered this new season of parenting and rearing children in the Lord. How wrong I was though and how thankful I was for the Lord to humble me in this way!!

What an amazing opportunity to teach our child(ren) about the vastness of God's creation... and to show them that despite the enormous size of the mountains... that our God is big enough and strong enough to move them and send them crashing into the sea!! What a perfect picture of God's indescribable character and just a couple of His amazing attributes!! And the promise that we can know Him personally through Jesus Christ.... that He will keep us in perfect peace as our mind is steadfast on Him!!

Psalm 46

1God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
2Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
3though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

Psalm 90:2
Before the mountains were brought forth,or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Psalm 95:4
In his hand are the depths of the earth;the heights of the mountains are his also.

Psalm 104:8
The mountains rose, the valleys sank downto the place that you appointed for them.

Isaiah 44:23
Sing, O heavens, for the LORD has done it;shout, O depths of the earth;break forth into singing, O mountains,O forest, and every tree in it!For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and will be glorified in Israel.

Road trips are fun... but I don't know about giving the future of the DMP a naked baby doll... at least equip it with a sword or a gun or numchucks.
