6 months already!

Raelyn is 6 months today... and still as much of a joy and sweetness as the day she was born!! I am really not sure where time goes... except I do know that it is flying!! God has faithfully continued to show His mighty and miraculous hand through the life of this sweet girl!!

Born: 6lbs 11oz and 20 in

5.5 mths: 19lbs 6oz and 27 in

Here are pics of her today: sitting independently, rolling over every which way, starting a sippy cup, talking and laughing all the time!! Shes sleeping a solid 12-13 hours at night with 2 long naps (and sometimes a cat nap.) She still primarily on milk with a meal of oatmeal every few days!! She has one bottom tooth and the second is nearly through.

We are ALL just crazy about her :)

I love this product!

One of my newest all time favorite products... the Bible Study guide that my husband was encouraged to design by some sweet fellow ministers of the Gospel. It has been rocking my world. As a group and individually, we completed 1 John over the summer and have recently embarked on Ephesians and then into Jonah. Can I be utterly honest with you? I think this is the first time in my life that Ive learned to study the Bible well (though I have not mastered it).... stemming off, of course, the amazing teaching we received at North Wake Church. I wonder how many other people out there, like myself, spent time wandering in and out of passages, devotionals, etc... not really soaking in and meditating on Him and His Word.

So yeah, my shout out... to my husband.... because I love him and God so rocks my world through him!!

Getting Our Education On!

The latest on our little sponge, Bright.

John has been dialoguing with him for a few months now teaching him the fundamentals of Christian beliefs. I have been astounded at the capacity with which Bright can memorize but also apply these truths (along with scripture) to many different aspects of life. I thought maybe he was just remembering the sequence... however, he can pull out any Q/A and apply it to a situation. Several of you have asked about this as you have heard Bright randomly answer ?s or us practicing... so heres where we are at today:

John: Who made you?
Bright: God made me

J: What else did God make?
B: (He inserts a list of whatever he is thinking about and then) ALL things

J: Why did God make you and all things?
B: For his own glory- He gets REALLY loud when he says glory :)

J: How can you glorify God?
B: By loving him and obeying him (when he wants to get your goat, he says "disobeying him"... strong willed child!)

J: Why do we glorify God?
B: Because he made me and takes care of me

J: Are there more gods than one?
B: There is only one God

J: In how many persons does this one God exist?
B: In three persons

J: Who are they?
B: The Father, the Son and Spirit

J: Q. Who is God?
B: Hes a Spirit, he does not have a body

J: Where is God?
B: Everywhere

J:Q. Can you see God?
B: No. I cant see God but he sees me

J: Does God know all things?
B: Yes. Nothing is hidden from Him.

Yeah, thats 12 out of 145 :) Some day!

Ive been praying about and thinking about needing to insert some sort of biblical educational plan for a small part of our days now that things have slowed down from the summer. Bright is so hungry to learn, to read, to write, to experiment and be poured into. I came across this INCREDIBLE website while on another blog site. Such an answer to prayer because it is free, online, full of wonderful ideas and gives the ability to tweak for each child and our family. It is literally everything Ive wanted but have not had time to organize or initiate on my own!! It was written by a stay at home mom who thoroughly understands wiggly and unable to focus more than a few minutes at a time... and is easy to implement the lessons throughout our week!! Many of the books and resources we already own or have access to... and the main teaching tool is the Bible.

Here is the 3 year old Curriculum, but I would encourage you to check out the entire site:

Here is the blogsite that I pulled it from... many times it encourages my heart and gets me researching and thinking:

Our library here in Savannah is starting up their preschool reading time a week from today, so we are so looking forward to that and also just accessing the plethora of things at the library itself :) Thatll be our Reading Tuesday time.

*********************************
Another neat idea that we just signed up for (but Ive heard about since we moved to TN) is Imagination Library.
http://www.imaginationlibrary.com/
You register online or at your local participating library (if they dont have it you can contact someone and be proactive about starting it.) You can register any child under the age of 5... and I believe they receive a free book monthly until their 5th birthday. And trust me, from what Ive seen... it is worth your while to take a few mins to fill out the registration cause they are sending really good books... many of which are ones on the recommended Preschool Reading List.

Our Getaway Weekend

We had a few days to take last week for a quick getaway to the beach in FL. I am so thankful for a family that can enjoy 10-12 hours in a car together without being miserable (yes, meaning two kids included.) We were in desperate need of some time away and just be together :) We stayed with Johns parents in Panama City, Raelyn got to meet Uncle Alan and we got to enjoy a day away on the boat to Shell Island... with no cell phones :) Here are some pics from our mini vacay:

Papa Daddy's Pizza

The Perfect BBQ Chicken Pizza...

We prepped the ingredients for him while he was at band practice. Homemade dough given 24 hours to do its thing. Sauteed chicken, cooked bacon, pineapple, sliced red onion and threw a block of whole milk mozzarella in the processor to make some shredded cheese.

The most used gift Ive given him other than a wedding band :)

One man's quest for the perfect pizza... a great story and full of fab recipes (doughs/crust like chicago style, new york style, all american, etc and also ingredients along with homemade sauces.)

The secret sauce...

Bright thought we needed to eat his before Daddy got home...

Laying out the dough... minus the air flipping

Toppings...

Then cheese....

Yum!

Its so good I eat Bright's crust... that says something cause I only eat Mellow Mushrooms and Johns :)

And the aftermath... I find it always humbling to post messy pictures too :) Keeps my OCD in check!

Hey.. do you know where we can find unused pizza boxes at wholesale price? I know youd want to have some too :)

Tears

Bright was loving on baby sister this morning (Raelyn) while I was eating breakfast. He put his hands on her, kissed her and prayed "Dear Jesus.Thank you for baby sister. I love her. Amen." Oh, these babies... they are so richly sweet!!

Met up with the Cornelisons. Grammy, Gramps, Grandma and Granddaddy all visited. Along with Aunt Amy and Uncle Brandon and their youth group. And we even got spoiled with the Woodalls for a few days!!

Ive also had ALL kinds of sewing projects going on... which I promise a later post once they are received by my dear friend back in Wake Forest. And always, plenty of future projects to keep us busy.

Raelyn goes in for her 4-5 month appt on the 18th and Bright will have his 3 year check up. Two days later: we have a mini family vacation to the sunny gulf coast of FL (8 hr drive and free room and board... plus some babysitters/children spoilers.) So stay tuned for our one and only get away of the summer and the latest stats on the kids.
