The Piano Men, Our Pets and Some Fun Driving Facts

Here is a video that I hope you enjoy... we had just got back from walking one chilly night this week!! Bright and John were playing the piano... Bright was dancing and as always very distracted with all that goes on around him!! Enjoy our little silly chatter box....

How I define a weekend.. or what Im learning to do...

Well, I am trying to lay low... today we ventured to the Flea Market, Five Points and a new pizza place called Lilly's.. it isnt Mellow Mushroom but it was sure an adventure and quite yummy!! Then we washed the car (yeah for water ban changed!) and I played with our plants (saved some Gerbers and Zinias out of the clearance section... oh, we are attempting to grow another pineapple plant too... and all the fabulous herbs we purchased at the HerbFest last weekend!!)

And a shout out to the most patient alley cat I have ever met... so patient that Benson ALWAYS lets Brighton sit on him and lay on him without a fuss.

Lesson learned though: when a child thinks he can sit on small creatures, he will do the same to small children too :) We went over to visit Robin, Rachel (2) and Micah (6 months) and when we got to chatting.. we looked over and noticed Bright trying to play and sit on Micah. Luckily he has a sibling.. so he could of cared less and Bright doesn't go full pressure down!!

John and I are studying for our NC Drivers Test. Now that we are not here as students, we are obligated to change over our plates, insurance, permanent address... yada yada!! Here are three really weird situations that we have learned about this week and giggled... however, it did help us reassess our thoughts on NC drivers.

1) you can pass on the right in NC (sorry for all those people I assumed were lawbreakers and impatient.. oops!!)
2) when you try to get around someone on a one lane road.. you are obligated to honk so that they (the person you are passing) has to submit to you (oops.. I just thought people were again impatient and VERY vocal about their thoughts.)
3) and for all those times I about nearly had a heart attack because of people on my tail... you only have to be 2 seconds apart from the car in front of you while driving (how in the heck do you measure 2 seconds... I definitely prefer one car length for every 10 mph!!)

2 seconds is easy :) find a permanent marker (IE: fire hydrant, telephone pole, etc...) when thee car in front of you passes it, start counting, you *shouldn't* pass it before you get to "2" :) That's that "2 second Rule" :-D

Good luck w/ the test, it took me 2 tries :( haha!!!

And I need to know where Lilly's is!!! I love me some mellow mushroom!!!

The things I remember about NC drivers are that their two lane ramps onto the highway yield to the right so that everyone can yield to the left onto the highway (huh?) and that it never ceased to amaze us at how many people ran red lights up there. We'd think we had cut it close and there would be 5 cars behind us! LOL
