Picking Blueberries
We set out last Saturday (the day after we returned from a week in Louisville... hence Raelyns opposition to being strapped in to anything that day) to pick blueberries in a near by town. We found ourselves in the front yard of a wonderfully sweet older couple who open up their bushes and lake for fishing every summer. For just $6 we picked a full GALLON of the freshest blueberries Ive seen. You just slip your money in a little container nailed to a post and they fully trust you :) Other than the fact that it was nearly 100 degrees and Bright burned his bare feet on the blacktop... we had a wonderful time. Mommy spent most of the time with the two babies up under a huge shade tree with a deck built around it. Overlooking a beautiful lake. The little old gentleman came out to keep me company... offered us some "ice cold pop" and some water. In the small world that we live in, I came to find out that he grew up around the same area in NC where we lived and for 46 years he and his wife lived in Chicago right around where my mom grew up and also close to where my aunt lives now. So fun :) Enjoy some of our pics... and feel free to send us your favorite blueberry recipe. So far we have made blueberry bread pudding, lemon blueberry ice cream and when we return from Gatlinburg we are gonna hammer out some cobbler and muffins :)
