Our Family of 4-1st week home

Here are some precious pictures of Bright loving on his Raelyn. Since he met her last weekend, he has been so in love with her and eager to hold her every day. They are absolutely precious, especially the way he looks at her and is ever so gentle. He has transitioned well to her being home and all that caring for a premie entails. He loves to hold her, he sings to her, talks to her, reads books to her, teaches her, shares toys with her, prays for her and so much more. Words really cant express these moments between our children and how it thrills our hearts to see our son love her so much. I hope the pictures can....

(The first time he held her!)

Well, Raelyn is growing and thriving in amazing ways. Her progress has been astounding and almost makes it difficult to believe that just a week ago we were in the hospital concerned about her on many levels. Only God can do that!! We had our follow up discharge appointment for her this past Wednesday afternoon. Raelyn had grown 1 full inch in 10 days and had gained just shy of 6 ounces (hungry- no weight stacking this time..ha!) since SUNDAY... thats right, in 4 days she gained about 6 ounces to bring her to 6 lbs 9oz (2 oz shy of her birth weight.) She is really filling in, getting some chub in her cheeks and sprouting like there is no tomorrow. Our wee little thing is too long for her premie clothes but not enough girth to fill out her newborns :) Imagine 21 inches and only 6 lbs 9oz of weight! Her neck muscles are getting very stong, lifting her head some and attempting to push up. She is tracking and focusing well with her eyes, looks for you when she hears your voice and clearly recognizes the members of our family.

(she is quite good at holding in her own pacie... not sure if its intentional but it sure is handy!)

(bright was convinced that baby sister needed her own ice cream cone too!)

(couldnt pass this one up!)

(here is daddy getting ready to put raelyn in the carseat for her first dr appt)

(raelyns first sponge bath... we are taking bets on how long she keeps her cord. bright was 6 weeks! and no she was no peaceful the entire time but its gotten better since!)

(cuteness!)

(ok, we went in to wake her for her feeding and found this precious site... so funny!)

Raelyn and Bright could not be more different from the get go. Raelyn is so laid back, a wonderful sleeper and has basically put her little body on a schedule. She automatically does eat, wake, sleep cycles (most of the day).... soothes herself to sleep with this precious little sound and only wakes up ONCE at night!! She hardly ever cries except when she has gas (which has only been twice so far) and when she is extremely hungry... she does fuss a little at diaper changes. She loves to cuddle but she also doesn't mind being laid down. She will take a pacifier but isnt attached to it. She eats VERY well and is fairly predictable. She loves to just hang out and look around. She does have a little reflux like her brother did but it seems manageable by sitting her up after she eats.

We go back to the doctor this Tuesday for our 2 week appointment (csection follow up and growth/lung check for Raelyn.) We will keep you posted :)

Here is what Bright has spent most of his past two weeks doing if it does not revolved around baby sister:

Cars and Tools.. and sometimes together!

She is adorable.

Looks like Bright is practicing to be on the pit crew. Time him and when he can get all 4 tires changed in 15 seconds, we'll put in a call to NASCAR!!
