On Tuesday March 24th, we had Raelyn and Mommy's 2 week appt. Raelyn weighed in at 7lbs 5oz... the Wednesday prior she weigned 6lbs 9oz! Thats a 11oz gain in a week and surpassed her birthweight beautifully!! She is becoming much more alert and attentive... holding her head up fairly well and starting to push off some with her arms and legs. Mommy's incision is looking good. They removed the steri-strips and the knot from the stitches. Unfortunately, Mommy's blood pressure was abnormally high so we had to return on Thursday for another visit. It was still high then too, so they put her on blood pressure medication that day. Ran blood tests to check the status of the kidneys.. which turned out to be fine. Within 2 hours of the first dose, she was laid out in bed with a terrible migraine, lightheaded, nauseous, light sensitive and a bunch of other nasty symptoms. She went to bed while Grammy and Daddy cared for Raelyn. Friday morning, Mommy returned to the OB office looking and feeling like a train wreck. Daddy, Bright and Grammy had left for the airport (2.5 hours away)... so thankfully some sweet friends from church cared for Raelyn and toted Mommy to the Dr and to the pharmacy. They switched meds and put us on watch for preeclampsia symptoms... if the pain killers didnt take the headache away then Mommy was going to be readmitted to the hospital :( But praise God that by Saturday evening (48 hours from the start) the headache began to diminish. The medicine does make Mommy and Raelyn very sleepy but appears to be lowering the blood pressure. So that effects how much they both eat... so Monday we return to the office for a BP check and a weigh gain check for Raelyn to make sure she is still growing properly! We are also wondering if it is triggering Raelyn to spit up because prior the night Mommy started the medicine she only had spit up once... now its just about every meal and sometimes a decent amount.
Some pics from the week:
Heres a pic of Daddy getting Raelyn ready for her 2 week appt with Dr Mitchell.

Grammy captured Bright initiating Raelyn into the family by doing "noses"... this is something that John, Bright and I do... rub noses and giggle! So precious!!

The Boppy is Bright's new favorite item... he calls it "baby sisters pillow"... he runs to put antibact on and grabs the pillow so he can hold her. This is an every day event which is precious :)

Raelyn started taking her naps in her room the day she turned 2 weeks old!

Raelyn came to visit Bright in his big boy bed... man, he thought that was soo awesome :)

Raelyn during her waketime... shes such a content baby!

Here are some pics of Bright working out in the yard with Daddy... leveling out the ground in preparation for grass seed. John seeded a portion of the backyard to see how they would take and he also planted some blueberry bushes in the backyard. Just the beginning of our journey into landscaping, seeding and sodding!
