Pray for Gramps

I apologize again for our limited internet access and updates. However, we have an urgent and pressing need in our family that we could covet your prayers for this week. My dad (Brights Gramps) will be having major surgery on his spinal cord and discs in his neck this Wednesday (Oct 29th) in Miami, FL. He is currently in severe pain, lost a lot of usage on his right side and the drs believe it is only going to get worse. Wednesday they will be making an incision in the front of his neck, going through to his backbone. Replacing torn discs with an organ donors discs (mending the spinal cord opening) and inserting titanium pieces to help his body fuse together naturally. This is more of a preventative operation than a cure for his many current symptoms... and there are lots of possible negative outcomes such as loss of speech and possible paralysis completely. If all goes well, he will be in ICU at least 24 hours until stable... and then he will be released once he relearns to swallow on his own. Recovery is lengthy and just begins when he is discharged. He will be in a neck brace for months and limited in motion and activity. Good news is that he should be able to do common tasks once he is released (feed himself, dress himself, etc.)
