Monkey Business

The past week has practically been a blur for as quick as it has passed!! I started thinking last night that it had been a long time since I updated the blog site though it seemed like yesterday!! I better hop to it I thought before the harassing emails start coming demanding photos and updates :) Just kidding though, the prompting is good and I know its just because you love us (especially Bright!)

Bright is a MONKEY. I thought before that he was climbing but how wrong I was... the steps, dishwasher door, the bed.... pales in comparison. We now use the bathtub as a sort of play pen. Bright frequents it quite often throughout the day to sit (with his clothes on and no water) to play with his toys in there. Of course, if he had his way he would be a shriveled prune and stark naked every time but so far he cant undress himself and can get the knob turned yet to make the water come on... dont for a second think that he hasnt tried to though :) He climbs in and out himself quite gracefully now... the first couple times werent so pleasurable!!

He pushed his truck over to the front storm door. Stood up on it and opened the front door this week. Hes also learned to climb onto and up and into the kitchen table chairs... he now places himself in his booster seat which is nice to know when he is actually ready for a meal :) This morning he maneuvered his little folding table chair to the kitchen table... where he stood up and started taking down the advent candles and playing with our nativity set of wooden figures.

He LOVES this little table and his new drawing gear... he runs up to it every day, places his drink down, pulls out a chair, sits down and doodles and eats a snack!! Hes so grown up.... it really tugs at my heart some days!!

He is all about characters and creatures.... both statues and in books!! Grammy and I took Bright to outdoor area of the mall the other day!! He was entralled with the tall tall Christmas tree, life size snow globes and especially these fishing christmas bears!! Bright immediately ran up to the baby one and started patting him on the back!! So precious... and well, Grammy ALWAYS has her camera so we got some shots.. right up Gramps' alley! However, Bright didnt seem to recognize that it was in the 40's outside.. as he barrelled toward the creek!!

I really do have to commend the little man that we have been so blessed with by the Lord above. He has shopped and traveled around town A LOT this week and past few actually with both Grandmas in town, Thanksgiving, errands etc. He does have this amazing way of warming the hearts of those around him no matter where we are. He is so friendly and has no reservations as to the children and grown ups that he talks to. He sees no difference in man... it is very humbling as it appears that he at 16 months old knows more about life than I do at 28. It is as if he speaks to hearts and not to "the body" that we have while we are hear on earth. Bright is purposeful in his hellos or more like "HI's"... and he is deliberate in the folks that he attempts to engage... people that I would probably pass by and never even think speak to, those that look grumpy or like they would never react to a toddler in a shopping cart.... those are the ones that he wants to make smile and talk the most!! He sees past the hardness and the wear and tear of this life... and he LIGHTS up when he makes people smile and gets them to interact.

I took Bright and Grammy up to the seminary and to some surrounding old buildings last weekend to take some shots for her Christmas cards. They have a lot of beautiful landscaping and really intricate nooks and cranies that many folks around here photograph. Heres a link to the album that I posted on facebook of some of our best ones (theres was originally 150 shots... Bright was having "I WANT IT MY WAY" kinda day."

Bright appears to be getting smarter and more talkative with each passing day... he is a SPONGE. Ive always joked around with our friends here about how John is a sponge and he remembers the craziest things!! Bright, just like his daddy!! He is really starting to talk a lot more on his own now, yes in understandable English too!! He is getting very quite and repeating words and sounds... and often practices many of his words in a row while he is laying in bed or playing alone in his room. We have a string of them that we say in the car and talk about... and he does them perfectly all by his lonesome.

In bringing out all the Christmas gear this week, it didnt take Bright long to figure out all the musical toys that he received last year. Dancing and singing penguins, snowmen, moose, etc. We hope to get it on video soon as he goes and sets them all off and stands there intrigued and dancing!! Its soo cute :) Heres a photo from one of his first days with the little things...

Thats the mini update on Bright... hope it brings you up to par... for the day of course, tomorrow itll be something else new :)

NEVER A DULL MOMENT!
