Sometimes my girlfriends who don't have children yet ask me how I know what to do in keeping my child occupied during different developmental periods and what toys to offer him. My mom told me at the beginning that when my brother and I were babies we were more than content with the tupperware drawer and some plastic kitchen utensils. With a room full of colorful and very amusing toys what are his favorite things to do?
How to win Brighton's heart right now:
Enter our house... take off your shoes, leaving them in sight!! His shoes are for removing and yours... for practicing putting them on and off of your foot. I actually videotaped him fascinated by my flip flops and figuring out how to get my foot into it. Crocs are his second favorite to make me wear... now if I could just teach him to massage :)
Whether you lay on your side, your back or your stomach... your body is no longer safe. There is no resting on the job anymore because when you lay down... its BOUNCE TIME!! I never imagined myself as a jungle gym... but Ive learned when you lay down.. you better be ready to play. He straddles my stomach with legs across my hips and proceeds to bounce up and down FOREVER. The only way to not end up hurting is to crunch your ab muscles up as he is coming down.. otherwise its like a sucker punch to the gut :) I dare you to try it... lay down and see if he doesn't attack!!
VELCRO is one of the best inventions ever. However, now that he has mastered it the cell phone and wallet are moving to a new location. He will spend 20 mins just velcroing and unvelcroing things. Im not joking... its hilarious :)
Small sturdy items... if we could afford and had room for a balance beam, it would be a worthwhile purchase. Brighton is rather obsessed with sitting on and standing balanced on random items. Things you would of never thought to attempt to balance on.... those are the first ones on his mind :) Shoes, cups, boxes, steering wheels, trucks, etc!!
