We ate lunch with some dear friends today and had errands to run in Raleigh, which in turn prolonged the duration of time till Brighton's afternoon nap. We had noticed that he was cranky upon leaving lunch and was not so easy to please, to put it nicely. I had to run into the store to grab some fabric. When John rounded the corner to pick me up, I jumped in and Brighton had dumped his entire sippy cup all over his lap for the sheer pleasure of it all and in essence to let John know what he thought about all this commotion. Honestly, depending on the day, this would utterly frustrate me in my feeble attempt to control things but today it just rolled off my back and was kind of humorous :) Then, as we were heading back into Wakefield/Wake Forest, Brighton started acting so silly, giggling and jabbering in a funny pitch (most would write this off as delirium!!) In his desperate attempt to stay awake (now 3pm) he was squinting his eyes closed really hard and attempting to fling them open as wide as possible. His eyes would close for a second, and then shoot open... with a smile on his face as if he were trying to disguise it all for us so we wouldnt catch on to his sleepiness. He would sign for more Cheerios and then wouldnt even get them chewed before he would have to force his eyes open again. John looked at me and we just busted out laughing, at moments our faces literally hurting. You see, it's simply the fact that the Lord had blessed us with such an amazingly sweet and funny little boy.... even something as trivial as a child pretending to not be sleepy, God still has an incredible way of penetrating our hearts and reminding us of how thankful and abundantly blessed we truly are. Our hearts couldn't help but look into the backseat and smile!! To recall His sovereignty and providential hand over our family, in just a little shy of 2 years since the Lord started knitting Brighton in this womb... we have ever so graciously witnessed His goodness, His power and a glimpse of His perfect plan for our lives through good times and bad. In October 2005, no one could of prepared us for the journey that laid ahead... when all earthly signs showed there to be no possibility of a child being capable of being conceived and then to form so perfectly in a womb and in circumstances which would be deemed as less than ideal... usually forcing the child to be born approx 2-3 months early (all of the details were unknown to us until the night Brighton was delivered by cesearean section!!) God protected Brighton as he made it to 38.5 weeks unblemished and healthy!! And here Bright is, 5 days shy of 15 months old... handsome, strong, intelligent, stubborn, sweet and so much more!! How could we look back and not give God the glory... the miracle of life, when the world says it would be impossible... Gods always been whispering with Christ, all things are more than possible!!
Below are some fun pictures that we took at the Flaherty Farms Dog Park on Friday morning (Macey and her doggie Aunt Sadie who was visiting with Grandma and Grandaddy.) They spent a majority of the week wrestling and wearing themselves out... but we thought wed run em just to get out the extras :) Im also inserting some pictures from our walk to the local park on Friday evening. Since Brighton's adventure on the big slide at the farm on Thursday, he is all about it now :) Enjoy!!
